Mani Mahesh Yatra Completely Closed (Social Media)
National News:Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have forced the administration to completely suspend the Mani Mahesh Yatra. The pilgrimage, which witnesses lakhs of devotees every year, has been hit hard by landslides and road damage. Officials confirmed that three devotees have died during the Yatra. Two deaths were reported on the Kugti route, while another occurred on the Hadsar foot journey route. The bodies are being transported to Hadsar for identification. Communication is difficult, as mobile networks have been down in the region for the past three days.
A major landslide at Sundarasi left five devotees seriously injured. They were airlifted to the Civil Hospital in Bharmour as soon as the weather cleared this morning. Helicopter services are now being used to evacuate stranded pilgrims and Yatra staff from affected areas.
Due to washed-out bridges and broken paths, the administration has also withdrawn its officers and staff deployed on the Yatra route and at Mani Mahesh Dal Lake. At Dhancho, where devotees were stuck after a bridge collapsed, emergency routes have been restored, and evacuation is underway.
Several roads in the Chamba district remain closed, and with no mobile network, communication is severely affected. Stranded devotees in Chamba are facing a shortage of drinking water, although the administration has arranged food and shelter. The Pathankot–Chamba National Highway may be restored by evening, with priority given to emergency vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal confirmed that the Yatra has been completely stopped until further notice due to heavy damage to the route. Rescue operations are in full swing, and officials have appealed to devotees to remain patient and avoid unnecessary travel.
